2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 13 || Tweed

The tweed trend took the world by storm this past fall and I was sold immediately. I actually purchased a few every single piece of tweed I saw. I probably own a million tweed blazers at this point. The one thing I really, really wanted was this beautiful tweed skirt from Target but I never managed to find it in my size. That's probably because by the time I saw it, it was already on clearance. I'm not joking when I say I scoured about 10 Goodwill's in search of it, too. Alas, it will from now on be known as the one that got away. I tried to find similar, too, but failed there as well. It's too bad, really. I had plans for that skirt...

Here are some of my favorite ways I've seen tweed styled...

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 12 || Trousers

Trousers were a big trend this past winter/spring and I was hesitant at first. With my huge, child bearing hips and long legs dress pants of any sort are typically a battle for me. Target came out with these awesome akle length cigarette trousers and I fell IN LOVE! They fit me fabulously and thank goodness I realized this right as they went on sale! I, of course, nabbed a few pairs and wear them all the time!

Here are some of my favorite ways I've seen this trend worn...

Clearly I'm a huge fan of the printed ones. Those floral ones - holy. smokes. They practically take my breath away. I love a good floral print!

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 11 | Neon

Neon is huge lately but is one of the few trends I haven't tried on for size, yet. Well I suppose I've tried it a liiiittle bit. I do have two summer dresses with slightly neon-ish stripes but I'd hardly group it in with this trend. Part of me has wanted to try full on neon, but it just doesn't feel very me - You know? I'm not sure yet if it's a trend that's going to stick around and I don't want to buy into something I'll feel ridiculous wearing a few months from now (like so many other things in my closet). Plus, to me if feels more spring/summer and I happen to live in the Midwest where Spring & Summer only stick around briefly. It seems impractical. However, I was eyeing a neon pink tank on sale at Target for $4.88 the other day. I might just have to try this trend out at that price!

Here are some of my favorite neon looks...

After staring at all of these beautiful neon looks now I think I might mosey on over run to my nearest Target.

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 10 || Plaid

Love, love, love me some plaid. Let's be serious - I have an extensive plaid button-up collection taking up pretty much half of my closet space. Ok, not quite half, but it's getting there. I love how it can be dressed up or dressed down. Layered over or under. Unbuttoned or buttoned! So many options!

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 9 || The Loafer

I'll admit, when this trend first started popping up I was silently praying for it to go away. Not quite as much as I've been hoping & wishing & praying for the overall trend to die down, but just about. Then one day, while I was roaming around one of my local Goodwill's, I spotted a glittery gold pair of loafers from Target with the tags still attached for $2.99. Maybe it was the glitter that pulled me in, but it was the comfortable, chic look that kept made me a lover. Now my shoe shelves are stocked with loafers of different colors, patterns & textures. What a fabulous alternative to heels for those days you're running around non-stop for hours on end! I'm so glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried this trend!

Here are some of my favorite ways I've seen loafers styled on this glorious world wide web of ours...

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 8 || Leather

Leather has, by far, been my favorite trend thus far. I know that's a pretty crazy statement to make, but I really think it is. I couldn't get enough of my leather leggings & coated denim! Last year I was really yearning for a pair but there wasn't much out there to choose from but this year really made up for last years lacking. I'm actually slightly sad that winter is coming to an end because Minnesota summers are not exactly leathers best friend. Actually, I don't think summer anywhere is leathers best friend! I can only imagine what would happen if I were to attempt to style my leather pants during a hot July day. I'm sure it would look something like that episode of Friends where Ross wears his on a date. Yikes!

Here are some of my fave. ways I've seen leather styled...

I just about died when I saw that leather dress on Olivia - hello, gorgeous!!
This trend better be here for the long haul.

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 7 || The Wide Brimmed Hat

I'm a sucker for a cute hat. Too bad they never look cute on me. With a forehead fivehead like mine, you'd think I'd be reaching for a hat daily. Alas, my short hair tends to make me look a little boyish with a hat over it. I actually bought my very first wide brimmed hat back in April and will attempt to style it up for you guys this fall! I'll probably need to refer back to these inspiration pictures & ask for your advice.

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 6 || Gingham

Gingham is a more recent trend and I am infatuated. I love it's versatility and how easily layered it is! Sadly enough, I don't own any pieces in this pattern yet, but trust me when I say I will. Soon.

Here are some of the ways I've seen this trend styled...

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 5 || The Oversized Clutch

I dont know why, but a beautiful oversized, fold over clutch makes me weak in the knees. Weird, right? I love the femininity and practicality this accessory adds to an outfit. It really holds it's own and doesn't get lost in the beauty of the rest of the look. Surprisingly, this is not a trend I have taken part in - yet. I just haven't found that perfect clutch at the perfect price. I did once, actually, and I'm still kicking myself for letting it go. The whole time I sat there staring at it all I could think about was how clumsy and forgetful I can be and the very last thing I want to do is set the purse down somewhere & forget it there. I pretty much need it to be attached to me somehow. Maybe velcro? hehe - Just kidding!

2012/2013 Trend Recap Pt. 4 || Camoflauge

The camoflauge trend might be one of my absolute favorites to date and I'm crossing fingers & toes that it sticks around for a while ever! I love the contrast it adds to an otherwise feminine look. My personal favorite way to style camoflauge is by pairing a camo. printed tee with a skirt or feminine pants and statement jewelry. It also looks fab. when mixed with leopard print! I love the versatility and endless options when it comes to picking out your favorite camo. printed item!

Funny story about this trend, actually. I have a camo. tee that I found in the mens section at Target and I absolutely fell in love. It's simple yet makes a total statement and I had to have it. When I got home I very excitedly showed my boyfriend. He was jealous and immediately went out and got himself the same tee! Now we have to check in with each other to make sure we don't both wear it at the same time!

Here are my favorite camo. styled looks....
